As the country’s most popular and longstanding children’s television presenters, dynamic duo Dick and Dom, were the perfect celebrities to launch this campaign and engage schools to get involved. The duo also acted as judges selecting the nine lucky schools who won a long weekend at one of Majorca’s most luxurious resorts, flying out from each of Jet 2’s UK airbases.
The event focused on science, history, drama and crafts with the pair attending the trip as well as hosting a science workshop with fellow children’s TV presenter and scientist, Mike Sansum. Other workshops at the event included drama, and a dance workshop hosted by Diversity star Jordan Banjo. The dancing star will be giving kids at the event the tips he has used in his career to become an extremely popular street dancer, bringing his larger than life friendly personality to the event.
Fellow children’s television presenter, Angellica Bell, who is well known for her work on CBBC and now on The One Show, also headed to the resort to conduct craft activities with the children during the weekend. Other benefits of the trip included a VIP send off from the airport, a welcome dinner with all the celebrities when they arrived, an ultimate school disco and show for guests to enjoy.
To win the trip, school children had to use their imagination to create a promotional piece for the resort in Sol Katmandu, this could be anything from a song, to a poster or a video and Dick & Dom toured the country, appearing at various schools to encourage children to enter. As well as this the competition hosted roadshows, visiting schools up and down the country which Dick and Dom made frequent appearances at as well as taking part in a radio day to spread the word.
